We are happy to announce that we are up and running
and accepting a limited number of outside mares for embryo transfers. We do not have the recepient mares here, we have
found higher sucess rates shipping the embryo after fertilization to a recepient herd. Most
all breed registrys are now accepting of ET's due to the development of bloodtyping and DNA perentage cerifications that
prevents fraud and parentage errors. Thousands of embryos have been collected since the early 80's and the
future looks even more promising to bring those costs of ET's more affordable for all breeders. You can expect to pay anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 to lease or purchase a recipient
mare & we can help you determine which will best suit your needs as well as arrange transportation for the recipient mare.
We aim to bring you a high sucess rate with the lowest cost possible to best suit your needs. The requirements are first to select a quality recipient mare to carry the foal
to term. This mare needs to have a good reproductive history, be in good health with an adequate plan of nutrition. Both the
donor mare and recipient mare need to be synchronized such that ovulation occurs approximately at the same time. This is where
most problems arise, as attempts to synchronize the mares precisely can be difficult. The recipient mare must ovulate 24-48
hours after the donor mare, or complications of progesterone levels being are too high in the recipient mare can be a problem
for rejection.
Once the mares are synchronized, the donor mare is impregnated.
The embryo is flushed at day seven after ovulation, we put them into day 6 mares and transferred into the recipient by
a surgical or non-surgical technique, which again we will go over with you depending on circumstances. |
